Firefighter Tattoos

Firefighter tattoos are very impressive and artistic work of body art. Many of you might be wondering what this tattoos relationship to Firefighting is other than the fact that the collector is on the job. In Japan over three hundred years ago during the Edo period many firefighters or hikeshi had tattoos. They belived that tattoos werw protect them in the war.

The work of these firefighters was quite dangerous, the houses were lighted by oil lamps not with the fire mashalls. They had to be very courageous, and tattoos were believed to raise their spirits. The tattoo these firefighters got were mostly of water dragons, coy fish, and water symbols.
